Whats your flavor?
square! with a lot of envelope modulation and zero resonance!
square wave all the way. i think roland's do the best square waves out of all synths.. sh-101, tb-303, jp-4, the list goes on.. i love that hollow utterly electronic sound. as a side note, anyone know which one does that classic Fingers square bass? you can also hear it on afx's laricheard track among others
Yeah always Square, Saw is for psytrance goa whitewankeyboy acidtechno
i use both, the square for the softer stuff, but also the saw a lot for those aehm.. sawing basslines. a saw distorts way better, too.
and i agree with forax, though the crumar bit 01 also does a very super hollow square bass..
fantomas, the time is running out.
karl, thats huge
Forax, yeah the liquidy bass rumbles sounds so nice. In Roland We Trust
Smackos, i think loads of black producers have used SAW in chicago acid tracks. or am i wrong
rude, do you use them both in a single track? and perhaps the same note pattern?
saw for the bass and square for the bass lead in case of using 2 of those nice little squeaky duckies in one track.

I didn't mean to talk about the racial use of the Saw, it was just to describe those idiotic goa trance dumbfucks.
Also with the software 303 (if that counts) I usually choose square.
you cant talk about waveforms without looking at it from a racial perspective.
both have their sense in tracks...it depends what you are lookin' for...just like Rude said
i like to play equal opportunity in the studio, and so I like to give the SAW a chance every once and again.
However lack of qualifications and capability usually means it gets kicked out after a few minutes.
SQUARE gets it's contract renewed every year.
...anyone know which one does that classic Fingers square bass?
Bassline on "Can u feel it" was courtesy of the arp on a Juno-6, I think.
no room for sitting on the fence in this topic, fantomas
90%sqare, 10%saw
love on dj pierres "box energy" the moment he switchs from sqaure to saw..

Larry saysit was a Juno-2.

I got a book where he sais its the Juno 6 (and jupiter 6 for strings)
One thing is sure its a juno 10000%, the sound is just the square wave of the Juno with everything else off...a Juno 2 could also do it probably but Can You feel It is from 1986 I think and the Juno 2 didn't exist yet...or was released that year or something.

ha. best quote in a while
one of the best quotes ever
Square here too, although not on an real TB but on MAM, and the rest of the synths
i never used them together, but in some of my older bunker acid tracks i used to switch from one to the other. tracks like ''angst bleibt'' and ''die starke der vernichtende schlage'' all use the square..
I can't even remember which I mostly used. But it's the one that sounds more acid house to me.
"Square waves for square mind" <--- i had to post this. it made mt smile for a while ;D
Sander = sendex ???
Actually a saw overdriven is close to a square.
Offtopic: A 303 needs a groove for me . And still wonder how the 303 of problems d'amour was sequenced.
