Topic: New tricks, old gear

Started this topic over at the muffwiggler forum, and I figured it might be fun/enlightening over here as well...

Anyways I've got my Boss Dr5 jerry-rigged for CV to MIDI duty, oh yeah...

It's got an external input- the gimmick of the thing was you could play its general midi engine with your guitar. I just remembered this feature a couple of weeks ago playing with my newly acquired Boss RSD-10, and it was a revelation! So, I set up a basic vco/vca/envelope patch with my modular being conducted by a wiard noisering. Patch the vca out into the guitar in. Yes indeed, there's the general midi piano following along perfectly. Sent the midi out to my jp-6......... Yes. Yes. Yes.

I've had this thing for 14 years. It lives again. It never died.

Re: New tricks, old gear

Last week I was able to sequence the Linndrum with a Tama Techstar Tsq-1000 using the external trigger inputs on the Linn, I ended up with x0x style programming, it was fun.
I'll never do it again as it took about an hour to figure it all out and all the settings were gone on power off.

You'll have to leave it powered up!
