TIM SWEENEY (DFA / Beats in Space, NYC)

We welcome back another one of our favourite DJs and also one of the nicest guys in the business – Tim Sweeney – who’s sure to bring the fireworks on this Guy Fawkes night!

Tim is best known for his weekly FM radio show in New York, Beats in Space, which is also available online. Every week Tim invites the crème de la crème of world DJ talent to guest on his show:  Carl Craig, DJ Harvey, Laurent Garnier, Prins Thomas, Todd Terje, Horse Meat Disco, DJ Cosmo to name a few.

Alongside his broadcasting career, Tim has been a club DJ since he was 15, playing at events in and around Baltimore and Washington DC, before moving to NYC in 1999. He hooked up with James Murphy and Tim Goldsworthy in NYC and interned at their DFA Plantain Music Studios, which led him to contribute a mix for the DFA Compilation Number 2 and the DFA Holiday Mix 2005, plus he was tour DJ for LCD Soundsystem and The Rapture.

Tim is now in huge international demand with DJ dates across the globe on a weekly basis – but always ensuring he’s back in time to do his radio show!

Beats in Space has just celebrated its 12th anniversary with a New York loft party featuring a stunning line up including: Rub n Tug, Juan Maclean, Metro Area, and Tim of course! Tim has also finally started a BIS record label - the first release, by Paradis, has just hit the shelves with Piccadilly Records making it their record of the week! There are more releases planned, so perhaps Tim will give us a sneak preview!
