Topic: [Dublin] Forza Italo @ Odessa Terrazza w/ Kid Machine - Live. 25 NOV.
Ciao! Ciao! Signore e signori, having spent October skiing at Courmayeur in the Valle d'Aosta, Forza Italo skates back into the Odessa Terrazza for our quinto festino celebrating the best in Italian calcio, giallo & disco. The penthouse pad is the luxurious location for the first Forza live performance as Kid Machine jets in from Manchester on Alitalio Airlines. Join us for all this and some of the most lira-friendly pints, prosecco and cocktails this side of 1983.
Much like a Hull City vs Verona fixture from the much missed Anglo-Italian Cup, Kid Machine’s live set appearance at the Forza Italo controlli celebrates the coming together of two fine European cultural traditions. Hailing from the North West of England, this Bambino Machino is flying in fresh off the back of his dynamite debut release - the Replicants EP on Il Capo I-F’s legendary Viewlexx label. The name derives from Kraftwerk's 'Die Mensch Maschine' after some people said he 'sounded like the child of Kraftwerk’ and the Kid’s sound also takes in the varying influences of John Carpenter, Italo Disco, classic electro & cold wave synth lushness. With abbondante releases lined up for next year we are molto felice to welcome the Manx-Manc-Maestro to rock the floor of Casa Forza.
Swapping the tricolour of green, white & orange for that of the green white & red, DJ Sergio Omerta will be laying down the platters that matter on the Forza giradischi this month. This deejay fulltime is a regular spinner at the festini fantastico Dischi Lunare e Garibaldi’s Gang and we proffer a big benvenuto as he becomes a Forza made guy. The Forza Italo Residenti, Crosserini e Simonetti will be bookending the evening’s produzione musicale with DJ toolboxes full of hammers swinging in their hands as they check into the heartbreaker’s hotel. Meraviglioso!
Our Novembre calcio presentazione has been carefully selected in honour of Sergio & the Kid who favour the wrong kind of profondo rosso and who could blame us for choosing a match featuring Liverpool. Italian opposition has provided our cheeky scouse friends with some of their sweetest highs as well as some of their more pitiiful depths over the years. To this end, the Forza Comitato di Selezione has selected the 1965 European Cup semi-final 2nd leg pitting Bill Shankly’s squadro rosso versus the mighty Internazionale under the supervision of Helenio Herrera. Having just taken a mere 83 years to lift their first ever FA Cup a few days before, Liverpool raced to a 3-1 first-leg victory in the tie. The second leg at the San Siro however, was to prove a far more a controversial affair leaving Bill Shankly as bewildered and frustrated as Ken Dodd diddling a tax return. Could the plucky scouse overcome the Nerazzurri and the Man in Nero or would it be another time when they would be left pointing the finger?
Meanwhile, our classic Giallo showcase will be Sergio Martino’s lurid masterpiece, The Strange Vice of Mrs Wardh. The film is as notable for its psychedelically garish sets and style, as it is for its fast-paced, multi-directional plot line containing more twists than a Luis Suarez triple-rotation Olympic-winning dive. Super piccante giallo pin-up Edwidge Fenech plays a highly sensual signora disturbed by her past and unsettled by her future as she is pursued by a selection of detectives, suitors and/or would-be psychotic killers. Eccitante!
We hope you can join us for the penultimate Forza party of 2012 and stay locked on the Forza page where we’ll shortly be announcing our boss-of-all-bosses Xmas/New Years two-floor Odessa extravaganza to see out this year’s Forza Italo calendar in grande stile.
