Ten years ago substance gave an idea a spontaneous try and invited a friend over to play some music together. A shot in the dark, hoping to make some people dance and have a good time. Even more so it became a defining moment, giving best memories and driving motivation to last until today. This year on the exact same date the initial things are brought back together again, as some matches are simply made out of irresistible circumstances. Sharing a musical understanding and mutual attitude as much as ever before, Carlos Souffront is coming back to join the "10 yrs of substance" at the beloved Salon Des Amateurs in Duesseldorf.

Equally entrenched in indie rock, post punk, experimental music, ambient, rock, house, and techno, Carlos Souffront was always a man of many worlds - with an ability to traverse though them with an unique imagination. There is a mood to his search within sound, something that is heavy, deep yet gritty. As endlessly surprising to the listener, his unique psychedelic spirit and and rhythmic complexity is as effortless for Carlos.

It is all too rare to find someone within the electronic music spectrum that can be called an original, that you can only really explain to someone who experienced them on the dance floor, usually just by saying "that's so" and saying their name. Carlos is one of those rarities.

Auch ohne an Zahlen zu glauben, fügen sich einige Details manchmal zusammen wie eine grundlegende Formel.

So kehrt Carlos Souffront anlässlich der "10 yrs of substance" zurück und ist, wie schon vor genau zehn Jahren, ein ganz besonderer Gast. Denn als Bruder im Geiste widmet sich Carlos immer wieder den ungehobelteren Kanten der Musik, die einen Abend so besonders werden lassen können.

Mit unerschütterlicher Gelassenheit, ebenso konsequent wie stilsicher, verbindet Carlos das musikalische Erbe seiner Heimatstadt Detroit mit Einflüssen, die weit über Genres und Grenzen reichen. Getragen von seiner ganz besonderen Atmosphäre lässt er Post Punk, Experimental Music, Ambient, Funk, Indie Rock, House oder eben auch Techno zusammenfliessen, sodass es auf einmal nur noch Musik ist.

Genau damit versetzt Carlos sowohl kritisch konditioniertes Publikum als auch weltbekannte DJs regelmäßig in Euphorie und Staunen, immer wieder wird er von diesen als "the DJ's DJ" bezeichnet. Das dann aber auch noch vollkommen zu Recht, denn Carlos Souffronts spielt so zwingend wie subtil, so eigen wie einnehmend. Fast psychedelisch, auf diese sehr angenehme Art…

Damit ist dieser substance-Abend eine klare Herzensangelegenheit, aus Anlass und Einstellung entsprungen, für die ein außergewöhnlicher DJ zurück in den Salon kommt. Denn diesmal könnte es einfach keinen Passenderen geben.
