Ciao! Ciao! Signore e signori, following on from our big fun Padre Pio celebrazione we are molto felice to annunciare the details of our next double-header-two-floorza Forza bank holiday speciale taking place as always in the decadent surroundings of the Odessa club and Terrazza. Once again we aim to provide you with the finest in Calcio, Italo & film screenings to while way your evenings. As we move into the summer months, who knows there might even be an extra-special guest of Il Sole coming to visit Il Terrazza.
Il Terrazza
We can’t overestimate how excited we are to host the bona-fide Italo Disco legend that is Fred Ventura as he joins us for a live P.A. where he will be rolling through his hammer-heavy back-catalogue of songs. As well as releases under his own name such as The Years and Wind of Change, this Milan native was also the voice on Italo anthems such as Bodyheat (Fockewulf 190), Love Theme From Flexxy-Ball -You'll Never Change No More (Flexx), Don’t Run Away (Myxoma), Burn on the Flames (Paul Paul) and molto molto more. Not one to rest on the Caesarean laurels of history, Signor Ventura has in more recent years been recording and singing with the likes of I-F, Alden Tyrell, Mr. Pauli, Alba, Ajello....and, well you get the picture. An absolute Don of the Italo world for 30 years, Fred Ventura is going to rock the mic and the Forza Terrazza like you have never seen before.
Our second guest speciale sees the welcome ritornare of DJ Leonard Rossiter to the terrazza giradischi. This roaming Roman shall be prendendo una pausa from crafting house-infused platters on the likes of Uzuri, Real Soon and Apartmenta Richordi as his alter ego Lerosa, to concentrarsi on his tre amori di Italo, New Wave and 1970s situation comedy britannico. Completamento the line-up on Il Terrazza, il jocks residenti Crosserini e Simonetti shall be dishing out the tender, bittersweet, heartbreakers and slo-mo robofunk jams. Magnifico!
Il Casa
Alden Tyrell needs no introduction but we’re going to write one anyway. Ever since he exploded onto the scene in the late 90s we have loved his work. As one of the key figures at the vanguard of the Dutch west coast sound, his productions and live sets have detonated dancefloors across the globe. The Tyrell Corporation continued to knock out hits like Hills of Honolulu, Krenk, Disco Lunar Module, Phaze Me, Knockers while in recent years he’s jacked it out with Chicago and techno releases on the Clone Jack For Daze imprint on his own and in collaboration with Mike ‘Magic Feet’ Dunn, Mr. Pauli & Serge. Expect Il Casa to be rocked to it’s foundations!
Jetting in on the No. 49 from Knocklyon we have Barry Donovan, dual don of Lunar Disko records set to showcase the finest cuts from the label and other scouse house anthems. As comfortable behind the bar as he is behind the decks, Master Donovan will be pulling the finest selection of records as carefully as pints of creamy Guinness - service with a smile! A regular on the Terrazza, we’re looking forward to hearing Barry ‘Barry’ Donovan j-j-j-jack the Casa this May day.
Making their Forza debut, at least on this side of the decks, are the Bop Gunners Platinum Ray & thatboytim getting ready to showcase the finest in "Rhythms from every spectrum of the Funk Time Continuum". The Bop Gun night is a funk, disco, skwee & electro good time party night hosted by these two jocks par excellence in the basement of Pacino’s on Wicklow Street. Platinum Ray coming in with a killer track record of dropping bombs on Power FM and thatboytim is the man with the plan behind the boss record label Takeover Recordings. These buckos will be opening up Il Casa to make you bop ‘til you double-drop.
Il Calcio
In honour of the Dutch/ Italian axis of our guests obvious choice for our featured calcio is the 1969 European Cup final between Ajax of Amsterdam and Milan. The Ajax side which included in their ranks a young Johan Cruyff, were making their first appearance in the competition. The Rossoneri had dispensed with the previous two winners in the shape of Celtic and Manchester United in the quarters and semis respectively. The latter in particularly dubious circumstances following a wrongly disallowed goal that still has Dennis Law fuming at the mere mention of it till this day.
Il Fillum
Starting off the night we will have a screening of the documentary “Spaghetti Dance”, featuring our guest Fred among other original prime movers discussing the rise of the Italo sound in the early eighties. Bellissimo!
Il Gargleo
All this and some of the best drink deals this side of 1983, with squisito cocktails for a fiver and all pints €3.50. So join us for what promises to be another parti speciale!
