Following on from our bellissimo parti magnifico with Fred Ventura and Alden Tyrell last time out we invite you to join us for our mondo speziale Primo Anniversario birthday celebrations. A hard-hitting bank holiday featuring a transatlantic international double-header of guests from Detroit & Rotterdam combined with the finest in talent d’Irlanda spread across the multitudinous nooks & crannies of a two floorza Forza extravaganza. The decadent italo-soundtracked Il Terrazza is the place to be to soak up the June evening sunshine while the futuristic sounds of electro rule the night deep in Il Casa. Buan Compleanno to us!

Il Terrazza

Headlining on Il Terrazza we welcome back Forza made guy, Rotterdam renaissance man, David Vunk. The Moustache Records don smashed the Forza floor apart last August with his heavy hitting selection of Italo hammers and his ‘one more tune’ provided one of the many highlights during the last year of Forza parties with Carly Simon looking as good on David’s head as she was sounding through the speakers! This Rotterdam rogue’s penchant for good times have ensured he is a kindred spirit of the Forza Comitata and as such he was a scelta ovvia to invitare back to help us celebrate our primo anniversario with a mucho welcome extended 3-hour set of golden italo nuggets for the turntable & the head.

Joining him on Il Terrazza di Martelli will be Andrea D’Olio, co-presidente of Discoteca Lunare Dischordi who is no estraneo to the Forza giradischi. Forza Italstar D’Olio has provided us with some of the standout DJ’ing moments of our first year and was the ideal candidate to help us blow out the candles on the Forza torta di compleanno. Discogs sellers Discostoria, ilabig64 & ItaloDisco80 are currently purchasing holiday homes on the Cinque Terre off the back of D’Olio’s planned set for this special occasion. Il Casa d’Elettro

Going deep into the depths of Odessa in Il Casa d’Elettro, we welcome the mysterious masked duo of Ultradyne for one of their rare & legendary live shows of fierce ruling phuture electro. Previously they have referred to their hometown of Detroit as their training ground but thats where the connection ends, this is music that does not belong to any regional pigeonhole. EP’s have surfaced on Warp, Sabotage, SCSI-AV and their own Pi Gao Movement imprint with even the strangest and most impenetrable tracks on first listen finally revealing themselves to be the diamonds in the rough they are. In the past they have hinted at their motivation when they spoke about their name meaning the perfect machine, but a machine of ideas whose motion is perpetuated by those who are willing to listen and obey. Ultradyne: “In Chaos we were born and to chaos we must return”

DeFeKt / E.S.S. brings the live 808 intensity to Elettro Forza - this Irish producer has been laying down some of the deepest electro sounds over recent years for imprints like Signal Code, A.C. Records, Takeover Recordings, New Flesh & Shameless Toady. One of the vanguard of global electro producers keeping this sound in the spotlight, the Portlaoise producer proper kicks out the jams live and our sound engineer will be earning his keep this June Bank holiday.

The DJ pressure comes from Paudi Ahern of Gary’s Gang infamy who’ll be cutting up like a samurai splicing the choicest selections from across Detroit, Chicago electro, ghetto, synth-pop, new wave, house & techno...like a boss! His brand of quick-fire mixing, scratching, looping and general disregard for genre has seen him subtly incorporate the latest technologies with the traditional DJ set up. Taking a sojourn from the decadent delights of Il Terrzza will be Forza impressario DJ Simon Conway going back to his roots for an electro set of all the records that have barely left their cardboard delivery boxes over recent years.

Il Calcio

In our search for ever more tenuous narrative connections to join the dots between our classic calcio and special guests, we cast our eyes first to Detroit on the off-chance that the Azzurri featured at the Pontiac Silverdome during USA ‘94. In the absence of such a game we turned our attention to Rotterdam and specifically that city’s hosting of the European Cup Winners Cup final of 1991 between Manchester United and FC Barcelona. Although lacking in vintage Italian narrative, when looking under the maccaroni it reveals a memorable match of Mancunian rain starring Mark Hughes, magnifico! With Mess(e)rs, Crosserini, Simonetti, Paudi and D’Olio all being United in the decision to honour Sir Alex Ferguson on his retirement by revisiting the first of his many successful continental excursions, we’re expecting a full house in early to share in the mad drama of this classic European final.

Il Giallo

The featured Giallo this month is a true classic of the genre, Dario Argento’s masterpiece ‘Tenebrae’. The film follows Peter Neal, a writer being stalked by a serial killer who is using the authors own words as an inspiration for grotesque murder. Our protagonist struggles to separate fact from fiction as the bodies pile up and the tension builds to a dramatic blood-soaked conclusion. Recognised by many as Argento’s finest work, the film comes with an iconic, hammer-heavy soundtrack synth experimentalists Goblin who were reunited by the director especially for this cinematic capolovoro . Complete with several extravagant set pieces, and Luciano Tovoli's exquisite camera-work and cinematography, ‘Tenebrae’ is truly a tour de force of the Giallo genre.
