Ciao! Ciao! Ragazzi e ragazze, as we move into the colder winter months, with thoughts of sun dappled beaches, and disco parties aboard exclusive yachts all but a distant memory, we are super eccitato to return with a grande two-floorza-forza italowe’en extravaganza taking place in the decadente surrounds of Odessa, Il Casa and Il Terrazza. With hallowe’en traditionally marking the end of summer and the transizione into darker times ahead we thought what better time to introduce the debonair, mediterranean sophisticate Forza Italo, to his darker, introspective, coldwave-hearted cousin from northern Europe, Wave Forza. As light gives way to the dark we celebrate this duality with an evening of the very finest in calcio, giallo, cold wave & italo disco. Optional, yet encouraged fancy dress theme of new wave romantic styles is the order of the evening. Bellisimo!
Forza Italo
Making his long atteso debut on La Terrazza for our Italowe’en speciale we have Il capo d’Italo se stesso, I-F. A true renaissance man of the European scene he has been at the vanguard of most that is matters in the Forza coscienza, from the acid drenched Acid Planet squat parties in early 90’s Holland, to his own hard hitting electro productions both as himself and in collaboration with others, such as the excellent Parallax Corporation releases with Intergalactic Gary. His label Viewlexx along with offshoots Murder Capital and Panama Records have released a slew of classics and have seen him firmly established as a don of the Dutch west coast sound.
With the seminal Mixed up in the Hague mix CD released back in 2000, he introduced the italo sound to a whole new generation of italo freaks and freakettes. It’s blend of electro and Italo dischi d’oro hit hard in all the right places, and turned the attention for many to early 80’s Italy. Not long after he set up the much missed Cybernetic Broadcasting Corporation radio station, which for years provided the nurturing ground for the revival of the Italo sound. It’s yearly top one hundred show sending discogs prices through the roof, and taking care of the piani di pensionamento of piccolo dischi store owners across Italy. Since then the good work has continuare with Intergalactic FM the go to internet radio presence for those who know. Responsible for first setting the fires of italo love alight in the comitadas hearts we are molto eccitato to welcome the leggenda that is I-F the giradischi of Il Terrazza.
Supporting cast comes from Luigi Sculatto the embossed boss of La Discoteca Teca fame ready to bring the disco sound to the terrazza sophisticates. Opening up proceedings with slo-mo jams of the elongated order is Stefano Crosserini.
Wave Forza
Wir sind hocherfreut to herzlich wilkommen Herr Wills back to Forza after his wunderbar debut back in February. One of the most lethal DJs, producers & remixers around, he will be embracing the sounds of synth, coldwave, jack trax, new beat & techno to take you on a narrative through the sound of broken hearts and shattered dreams. Mick made his debut release with the Atomic EP (inc. remake of Bobby Orlando’s ‘Calling All The Boys’) coming out on Helmut’s International DeeJay Gigolo imprint & since then has rocked out further releases and remixes on lovely labels such as Minimal Rome (inc. remixing J.T.C.’s ‘The Controller’), Crème Organization (killer remix of Grossstadtlichter as Kinky Lovers) Space Factory, Psycho Thrill, Phil E, Tabernacle (remixing John Heckle). Mick’s series of Demo Mixes (now up to No. 18) compiled from years of record-fair digging are the stuff of legend and wir sind grosser delighted to have this plattenspieler take over der Forza ein’s und zwei’s once again.
Providing warm-up duties will be the Skinny Wolves DJs with their collection of esoteric minimal synth and wave tracks to warm your coldwave heart. Following which, Wave Forza wunderkind Simon Le Con takes time out from re-reading John Taylor’s autobiography to write his own musical narrative of darktalobeatsynthtrax.
Giallo Paradiso
After stealing the show at the Simonetti Horror Project concerto back in the summer, we welcome Stefano ‘Giallo’ Galvino to the Forza bosom where we’ll drop the big screen, roll up the couches and turn the middle floor into a cinematic horror paradiso where Stefano will DJ & VJ un montaggio di giallo classicos to remind us of his days growing up in Verona.
Calcio
Battaglia di Santiago - Italia v Chile (World Cup 1962)
Full of tackles orrore from the off, the first foul blew up after 12 seconds and there was no let-up for the 90 minutes that followed.Broken bones, police invasions, nationalist insults - all the things that make calcio this great game we love. The match was famously introduced by David Coleman as "the most stupid, appalling, disgusting and disgraceful exhibition of football, possibly in the history of the game." and if that’s not incentive enough to get down to watch it in its entirety, consider this - the referee was Ken Aston who later went on to invent yellow and red cards.
Forza!
