I don't know. Just got Firefox 3 and it's pretty damn cool. Chrome looks really streamlined but still has a Fisher-Price feel to it. May give it a shot when they introduce skins.
well they basically built they're own javascript engine and it is noticeably faster.
Im definitely not crazy about the look of it...needs some polish. But from a performance standpoint, I think they're on the right track.
what is it ?
first impression; not bad.. at least its fast.
I think it's gay
i think the name certainly is...reminds me of some awful Meat Packing district night club
it gave me a BSOD at first use. :S
its still a beta, but i didnt find anything intresting in it so ill prolly wait until its version 10 or something.
There has been some reports on the EULA though.

I agree with bias a little
i think it aims to control our minds

Everything google releases is in perpetual beta...gmail has been out for 4 years and is still in beta.
that's how google does it...they get the users to do their QAing and usability testing for them...we're all being used.
I like being used
it's for Windows, so who cares?
[flame war]PC versus Mac[/flame war]
google scans what technology companies are searching (via google search) so if they are searching for articles and mentions of their nascant technology, google will jump on the same idea and produce a simmilar product for competition but release it to the public before testing it just so they can corner the market first and develop user loyalty so once the original product is released people will not be willing to switch.
and the name chrome refers to the overall look of GUI's when making programs. chrome is the new black.
and while it is fast, it doesnt really offer anything of value that would make me switch. it's kind of like they tailored this browser to people who already thought that google was their web browser (ie: parents over 50 years of age) what with the search bar the way it is and the multiple homepage cells generated based on what sites you visit most often (as the 50+ age demographic is likely to only vist 4-6 pages anyways; email, local news, international news, funny videos, and maybe the ocassional porn) so it will remember those few pages, making surfing a faster and less memory relient experience for the demographic.
the playschool appearance really doesnt do it for me, the large blue bar at the top kinda makes me feel like i am loosing a fair ammount of real estate on my screen.
need to test more to see the real performance.
looks like it opens a separate process thread for each new window, so that may be one way to slow it down - if you have to use a lot of windows at the same time. also, yes it looks like of fast fresh after the download, I wonder how fast it becomes if you have lots of plugins installed (like I do on firefox).
well as a web developer chrome makes my life more difficult...just one more browser to debug.
as a consumer, it's a good thing...competition often results innovation
i don't know...sure it doesn't really bring anything new to the table but it is faster and has better memory management so why not?...aint like im paying for it.
It's fast... but that's about it. No extensions for now.
It's back to firefox for me, at least until Adblock and mouse gestures are available for Chrome (or for a modded version). Chrome also has no good way to manage cookies (white list or black list).
I like it. (am I gay or not?)

it doesn't work on any decent OS

it uses the same rendering engine as safari
Good to know it's gay I'll try it

this is true, but i've already noticed some minor differences...
just like i notice some minor differences between ff2 and ff3...unfortunately i can't just assume that because something looks good in safari it'll look good in chrome.

haha, right on dez!
