Re: New mini monosynth from Dave Smith
I have nothing against wild looking gear, but this thing is just ugly and the font choice is tacky. I know, I know its about the sound but come on!

What you dont like the PUSH IT! PUSH IT! button?
You love to hate Curtis chips Mono....
That "PUSH IT! PUSH IT!" Button looks like something that would be on a toy for a toddler.

someone should circuit bend one of these
I like yellow/black. But I have a chinese girlfriend for years now I can recommend!
Twist It? Flick It? Pull It!?!?
That is one kinky ass toy!

So true!
what dont you like about curtis chips?
I don't like the sound.
They can be handy for polyphonic synthesizers.
But for a monosynth it's not needed at all.
a little review : http://www.analogindustries.com/blog/en … 2818464718
"You have to turn either knob like 30 times to get through its whole range of values"
hmmmm those knobs don't seem so good. There're those digital encoders or whatever it's called, right? I mean it's not possible to just switch them with some regular pots and knobs?

Probably not. If they are digital encoders, they are not directly effecting the analog circuit. They are telling the software to change something in the analog circuit.
Yeah software update FTW!
beginning to think i want it...
i'm sure i like the sound
never owned a synth with an audio input before
it has sub osc's and the 08 doesn't so that should produce different sounds
it's PERFECT for using at live sets ( finally something analogue to bring )
..and today i read i can control every parameter tru midi from the '08 !
i'll get rid of the yello with black vinyl..
it's not too expensive also
It's so cheap you dont have to bother trying it
Its on my shopping list...
horrible design...
maybe it's not that bad, being a voice of a prophet 08, but I think I'd never get one
mmmmh
I must admit I'm changing my mind about this thing: not cute, but little, good sounding and not expensive.
Only problem is I already own an evolver and I'm afraid it could be similar sound-wise, even though it has some different and interesting features...
Anyway if someone here tries it I'll be happy to read what he thinks about it...
so is the verdict in yet? Anybody tried it out?
You can totally see sound man in your brain and some people have that weird thing where they can see all the sounds they hear, what is that called again...something syne-something
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synesthesia
Ah this was ofcourse in answer to Computer Disco's claim from a page back...
so when somebody says something sounds like shit that means he can actually "hear" the smell... I hope so, because feeling its taste wouldn't be a good thing I suppose!
got it yesterday. damn this thing is tiny! haven't had time to really dig into it yet but it seems very capable.
