Re: anyone ever use a Tascam 644?

I have never tried one my self, but our service engineer always rants about those old tascams...
Many good albums have been recorded on 4 and 8 track cassette recorders, my favorite being Bruce Springsteen's Nebraska.
100 bucks seems a bit much, I mean it's not getting easier to get tapes.

I want to get the 688, which is the same I guess but 8 tracks. They come very highly recommended. Maybe not as good as reel to reel but still better than all normal porta studios.

that folding metering thing looks sweet smile

that looks cool another option is a tascam 238 with out board mixer.. the 238S version is supposed to be pretty nice for cassette

Re: anyone ever use a Tascam 644?

i've always had doubts about 8 tracks on cassette.. even when they came out. can you say ''crosstalk''?
