Topic: yamaha cs15?

I have a yamaha CS5. I found a CS15 for a reasonable price. Anyone have any feedback on the CS15?

thanks

Re: yamaha cs15?

I have a CS-5 also and have been considering getting the cs-15 as it's like a cs-5 with a second oscillator.
I read that they sound very similar, obviously a bit fatter when using both osc.
I don't think they don't have osc sync, also I heard the envelopes are not as fast as the cs-5.
That might not be that bad because the cs-5 has really fast envs.

If I were you I'd get it, you can always resell it in case you don't like or sell the cs-5 for a similar price if you want to keep it.

Re: yamaha cs15?

I've played with a CS-15 for a bit.

I liked it in some ways - really love the split/dual aspect of it, and the way you can setup one half to do a solid bottom octave, with the filter set to LPF and clamped down pretty tight,  then setup a bandpass filter on the 2nd osc with some resonance and the LFO for a bit of crazy filter action that still leaves you lots of bass. That one option makes it very cool to have, I think.

it doesn't sound like roland or korg, which is a bonus I guess. Though I don't really like its basic sound. trying a normal synth sound it came across as a bit weak to me. then again maybe I'm just not used to hearing them?

Bottom line is - if you like the CS-5, then get the 15. The 15 should do everything the 5 does, and then a whole bunch more.
