Topic: Trouble with picking some monitors! help!

I want to get some monitor speakers but have absolutely no idea how to choose. The price range with these things are ridiculous. I definitely don't want to go into the $1,000.00 US range but is that where i'll get my moneys worth? Any help is greatly appreciated i'm completely lost.

Re: Trouble with picking some monitors! help!

i think around that price is when you start to notice the quality.

Re: Trouble with picking some monitors! help!

uh-oh sad

Re: Trouble with picking some monitors! help!

Just get those cheap Alesis Monitor one MK2's, they're like 70 euro's or something per piece.

Re: Trouble with picking some monitors! help!

Then better get the Active ones of Alesis, then you don't need an amplifier.

But the best way is go to a shop, take some music with you and listen to it on a couple of sets.

I think every monitor someone advice you, someone else will say it is crap.
If you would search on the Alesis speakers, so will read so much bad things, but also a lot of people who find them perfect.

The best way is to listen to your recordings on multiple soundsystems, in that way you could notice if your monitors might have a little bit to much bass or something and you could adjust it. So you learn how you must listen to your monitor speakers. They are not perfect mostly. Especially the cheap ones.

I did all  my recordings on crappy old normal JVC cheap customer lofi speakers. I now have Alesis M1 Active MK2, but nothing I recorded with that speakers is released if I remember right.

You could search the CBS archives as well:

i used to be very happy with those (MK1 even), untill i auditioned these Sound Projects XM:

i got them for a good deal, couldn't resist after hearing them. well over the 1000 mark normally though.

in the lower pricerange i think KRK makes nice powered monitors. but the best advice indeed is to listen to them, preferrably on the intended location.
