Topic: Jupiter-6 Battery Replacement

So my JP-6 has lost all of its patch memory.

Has anyone here done the battery replacement themselves? Is it a difficult fix for a soldering novice?  I was convinced I could do it myself until I read something to the tune of "Do NOT overheat the battery or it WILL EXPLODE!".

Re: Jupiter-6 Battery Replacement

yep all battery have that tendency. The way to get round that is to use clips on the legs of the battery you are de-soldering  as it draws heat away from the component itself. If your real worried you can use a freezer spray that you get from Radioshack ect. But it should be ok if you have a decent Soldering iron and clip the legs.

A little bit egg sucking, but always good to go over old ground.

Hmm.  Well my iron is on the cheap side of things, but I think I'll get some heatsink clips and give it a go.  Thanks for the link too.

Re: Jupiter-6 Battery Replacement

well i have done it in my juppi-6 1 year ago - with an original replacement battery from roland without any problems....

...you do not need to be affraid about an exploding battery....this job is done within a few seconds.....no need for using freezer spray...

Orgel!
