Re: Ableton Live users - your dreamz may come

Can't wait!

Vocoder, grid sequencer with Max, and I think they said step recording?

I think the pairing with Max will give nice results.

Re: Ableton Live users - your dreamz may come

so this is kind of like a nord modular inside ableton? how much ram do you need? i have 2gigs and as soon as i get up to 6 audio tracks or more my cpu is eaten alive.. i would imagine this type of thing would eat it also?

Re: Ableton Live users - your dreamz may come

max/msp is more powerful than a nord modular...and more complicated...i could never really get the hang of max, to be honest...
not sure how ram-draining it would be, would depend on what you were doing with it i assume...

Re: Ableton Live users - your dreamz may come

you don't know shit, boy.

Re: Ableton Live users - your dreamz may come

:-p

Re: Ableton Live users - your dreamz may come

+++ Dont be scared honey, thats just the resonance knob +++

Re: Ableton Live users - your dreamz may come

Re: Ableton Live users - your dreamz may come

So how much do we think this will cost in addition to having to buy Live or Suite 8?

Re: Ableton Live users - your dreamz may come

I'd be willing to pay up to 130$ without thinking twice.

I might buy it at 150$ and up, will skip at 200$+

Hoping for 99$.

Re: Ableton Live users - your dreamz may come

I hope it's just that and not something ridiculous. I could be on board. I have a Lite version that came with my Mbox2Pro but if the combo price (live or suite 8 and max4live) could sit around $1000 or less I could be persuaded to forgo a Nord Modular and wait around for this.

Re: Ableton Live users - your dreamz may come

My upgrade price from Live 7 to Live 8 suite is 345$ US, I thought that was pretty reasonable.

Don't know if I'll upgrade to the suite, I don't really need it.
Maybe I'd use sampler a bit to multi-sample some of my synth patches.

Re: Ableton Live users - your dreamz may come

Whats so special about the max step sequencer? live has always had step sequencers.

Re: Ableton Live users - your dreamz may come

Live has a piano roll since version 4 i think but since you can't input notes with hardware in a similar manner as an 808 or Electribe it's not really what people would call a step or grid sequencer.  I think the Max thing is great because it'll let you use hardware with button grids for sequencing,  like the PadKontrol or Monome.

If I understand correctly the piano roll wil now have a step sequencer, like say on a Pro-One or a Poly-800, where you can input midi notes on step at a time with rests etc.  That's a feature I thought was lacking.

http://www.ableton.com/touch

may be going to start using ableton more often...........maybe.

Re: Ableton Live users - your dreamz may come

I'm still holding off on being excited about live 8 till I learn more about the improved MIDI editing...... it's something that's always really annoyed me with live. that piano roll they have is the worst sequencer piano roll out there. Really, it needs to break the live "one window" paradigm, and be able to pop open MIDI clips for editing in their own full window if you ask it to....

while the possibility of a step sequencer is awesome, the cost for that (max for live plus the akai thing) is going to be more than the cost of live itself!

Re: Ableton Live users - your dreamz may come

i agree, their midi is too DUPLO. Logic 5 is so fun in that regard
