whats a reasonable offer for an old Yamaha Mc 1602 mixer?

I want to buy an old dusty 1602 from someone, but i dont want to insult the man,
and I dont want to pay too much for an old mixer from the eighties.

So what would be reasonable?

Re: whats a reasonable offer for an old Yamaha Mc 1602 mixer?

Of course it depends on the condition and whether you can test if before you buy it. I reckon 150 euro is a fair price if it's in working condition. Nothing wrong with starting somewhere below that tho, especially if you can't test it before you buy it. I reckon 100 won't be an insult if that's the case.

Re: whats a reasonable offer for an old Yamaha Mc 1602 mixer?

Thanks Brian. Its at My place now, but I still have to test it.
normally when it works ok then I was thinking about making an offer around 75, and then maybe go up
to a 100. The owner hasnt touched it for years so maybe He's happy to get rid of it.
I've got the space for it in a month or so, but its still pretty damn big..

Re: whats a reasonable offer for an old Yamaha Mc 1602 mixer?

Just looked at some pictures. Does seem a nice solid mixer. 16 channels, 3 x aux.  4 bands EQ. No groups.
If it really looks good and all sliders and knobs are ok with less to none crackle I guess 150 is indeed fair.  Try 100 first and then 125.

Re: whats a reasonable offer for an old Yamaha Mc 1602 mixer?

You asked for the reasonable price, not the bargain price wink They are good mixers, or so I'm told. Apparently they guy knows or at least trusts you well enough to have you use it for a bit, so I guess if it's a friend thing you might go for 75... But if it's in good condition it's worth more, no doubt.

Mixers are big, especially the ones that are actually useful. It's either that, or some cheap line mixer with 1 aux and only 2 band eq, or go for software... But it can be an argument when you want to get the price down if the guy knows your space situation.

Re: whats a reasonable offer for an old Yamaha Mc 1602 mixer?

thanks for the info,
I'm gonne wait a little while but I still want it.
First I have to get new faders for My rodec mx 180 dj mixer.
The Yamaha is at a befriended store in terneuzen. They have let Me use it for
a party, so now I brought it back for the time being. Its used for live purposes
so the condition isnt a 100%

the cleaning up of  the rodec is gonne cost Me like 400 euro's
But a new one is over 1000. It has got little pieces of paint-dust in it.
Dont ask why..

the Yamaha is a good solid mixer without uh.. poeha
If I put a keyboard stand under then I think it will fit perfectly

Re: whats a reasonable offer for an old Yamaha Mc 1602 mixer?

last auction on eBay - 201

Re: whats a reasonable offer for an old Yamaha Mc 1602 mixer?

400 euro to put in new faders??? or to clean the whole thing? thats insane..

Re: whats a reasonable offer for an old Yamaha Mc 1602 mixer?

well some stores gave Me the advice that I'd better buy a new one..
But I think that they confuse My rodec with a numark dj mixer or something

Its 5 channels plus 3 amplifier output faders and the pot meters are fucked up too

If you know a good address that can fix it for cheap, please let Me know Rude smile

Re: whats a reasonable offer for an old Yamaha Mc 1602 mixer?

Stores work on commission, they want you to buy a new one because there's more profit for them there. I wouldn't be surprised that they'll tell you a lot of crap just to hook you up with something new. Why don't you call Rodec and ask them what the parts will cost you, and  estimate whether you can do it yourself or need to bring in somebody who can do it for you. I don't know any Belgium repair people, I know one in Maastricht and one in Den Bosch... Perhaps you should ask for a repair guy on the dutch synthforum (lots of Belgiums there) or search or ask at http://www.homerecording.be

Re: whats a reasonable offer for an old Yamaha Mc 1602 mixer?

Rodec is from Belgium so just give it a try..

In Holland Dateq even made custom made crossfaders on request some friends of mine did, so it wouldnt surprises me if the Rodec company can help you out also.. (plus they know there stuff better than any random technician I guess)

TB or not TB

Re: whats a reasonable offer for an old Yamaha Mc 1602 mixer?

lots of belgiums? is there more than one? big_smile

companies like rodec and dateq are small enough that they'll deal with customers direct.. i did the same with d&r, picked up a bunch of faders at the factory in Weesp, and got a nice tour as well.

take it to brian's guy in den bosch.. he's cheap and does very good work!

I make the same mistake lots of times. Lets be happy that theres only one Belgium..

I'm gonne contact Rodec when My cashflow is up again cause Mr. policeman got Me good last week neutral
i think that Your right about the support of companies like Rodec. Maybe I can get some higher quality faders
for it cause My MX 180 isnt that old but the faders are already F.U.
Strange cause when I go out to dj I sometimes use Rodecs that are 5 times as old

Me neither, but I think its strange that all the old ones keep on going while My younger version is already making noise when I use the faders/pots.

Its like they used other components back then
