you into chipmunk voices?

Re: Technics 1210: changing the pitch range ?

yeah that's possible, if you remove the plate
there's a switch, you can adjust the speed by using a screwdriver
+16 is the result

Re: Technics 1210: changing the pitch range ?

Maybe you need a vestax PDX-2000 plastic ufo-like player with +-50% ultra pitch? wink

Re: Technics 1210: changing the pitch range ?

numark ttx does the job too. if you don't mind the honda look of it after the cadillac technics.

Re: Technics 1210: changing the pitch range ?

Re: Technics 1210: changing the pitch range ?

not only will some of the tracks sound silly pitched up/down so much, it will be a little harder to keep the beats matched IMO.  If you want a bigger pitch range use a CDJ, so it doesn't change the pitch of vocals.

hmm, can all of the modern cdj players do that?
numark ttx can do that too actually, just need to switch the outs to line from phono on the back panel, but the sound is noticably bad if you pitch up or down more then a few percent. useless feature imo.

Re: Technics 1210: changing the pitch range ?

I haven't tried the new ones, but it worked ok on the old 100's, not sure if the new ones have it or not to be honest, I'm assuming they do.

You can do really amazing things with electronic music without vocals ( somtimes even with vocals ) with pitching them to the extreme, and in the end you can have two different tracks .

Sometimes it works too changing the original ranges 33/45.

That makes a lot of fun smile

Bye the way.
I only use tracks i have on vinyl so the CDJ could be a nice tool , but not for me yet.

@automatique
Nice equipment the "PDX-2000" but i love my Technics , and now more than ever before:)

Re: Technics 1210: changing the pitch range ?

I have those super OEM's that go +/- 10%, +/- 20% and even +/-50%. The +/- 20 range is quite handy sometimes when 10 is just not enough. Most records do not actually sound better when pitched to the extreme though.

Re: Technics 1210: changing the pitch range ?

So nice.
Just did it.
Thanx alot!

Re: Technics 1210: changing the pitch range ?

What does OEM stand for anyway? I never figured that one out.

Re: Technics 1210: changing the pitch range ?

ok, so what the fuck is a "Super OEM" then??

Re: Technics 1210: changing the pitch range ?

changing the pitch range is/was popular with the dj assault/godfather and scratch type dj's.  i read somewhere it's difficult to reverse the process and put the decks back to normal.  never tried it myself though, surely there's some way to recalibrate..

Re: Technics 1210: changing the pitch range ?

the dots on the side of the platter and the red light are used to calibrate your pitch

Ah, ok. The pieces are falling into place now. At first I thought OEM was the name of the company that supplied the motors for those lol
