Re: ah! italodiscogod account suspended on youtube
somehow I just wanted to say, let us do our job (as djs) and enjoy what we find for you. In the end that is the reason why I look for and buy records, to make people dance.

haha, so it's not cosmic anymore in London, is it?
'cosmic' is still being dropped in the cooler conversations
usually followed up with 'am really getting into me hi nrg now'
it takes a lot of hot air to raise those fringes

you shouldn't play that stuff then, or else people will know!
well, the music, yes, but name dropping is a completely different matter, don't you think so?
if someone asks me what i'm playing i'll tell them. are you the secret dj label sticker type then?
off course i identify with the feeling of blowing people away with unexpected/unknown stuff. but for me part of the fun is letting them know what it is.
with the bootlegs/edits most of the deejays don't even know what it is that they are playing themselves. but that's a whole different story.
"if someone asks me what i'm playing i'll tell them. are you the secret dj label sticker type then?"
no no, I'd ruin all those nice labels...
Of course it sucks when people are ultra secretive and obsessive about revealing their records, but on the other hand it really is too easy when you can just go download someones playlist and then go call yourself a dj...or just blindly buy botlegs. You can realy just do that now, and it takes a lot of the fun away. That said, I think youtube is realy great often and finding new tracks there can sometimes be compared to finding records irl.
Also i do not NEED to know every damn record a given dj is playing,.,i might like most of his set, but will not go into a frenzy if a i cant find out. I like going out and discovering things myself instead of always getting it handed on a platter. Im just saying i can understand both sides of the argument, and its nothing to do with elitism IMO
This is not a comment to italodisco god, but just overall. A little mystique hurts nobody, i prefer it like that at least. In the end though, you are gonna spot who has done the homework and who hasnt

Smoking Jimi was lame, but this really sucks. The guy saved me some money that's for certain.

Happened to me more than once the passing days after googling and clicking on cached links from Discogod. Have to dig deeper now to find samples.

DAMMIT.
But most complicated, your argument fails because most stuff you have a problem with being put on youtube most likely isnt 'unknown stuff to potential audience', it's unknown stuff to potential collectors.
It's the typical strawman argument, you make it sound like a noble cause while deep inside it's this voice saying: "shit, less chance for me to find the original for cheap!!". Not sure where you live, but even in rotterdam, 95% of your audience will have no clue whether alex valentini is more obscure than ken laszlo, and still they will be enjoying.
It's also selfish, you dont want people to find out about rare music, you want them to find out through you.
That said I think everybody collecting / playing obscure music shares these thoughts more or less. I for one am not afraid to admit it. It's human to like feeling admired for your knowledge and good taste. But don't pretend it's some kind of noble cause you're defending here. You're not jesus
I take it you were just quoting the wrong person, weren't you?
Most complicated robot will be our next italodiscogod.
