Re: What new booty have you acquired?
I haggled a lady at a pawn shop down to $100 Canadian for one of these today. Will I keep it forever? Who knows? At least I know I can sell it for double used.

you have the Trio "Da Da Da" rythm preset in there?
Linndrum, the one that got away
The look is like new ! Paid 500 euros but unfortunaly some sounds are sounding distorted It
Almost bought a MAM Vf-11, when I showed up to the guy's place it turned out to be a FAT PCP330.
I know they're the same, but the PCP is really really ugly, there's no place in my studio for gear this distasteful.
I'd really like to know what they were thinking when they "repackaged" that vocoder.
Thats hot. Congratulations.
Got a second Linndrum today, even cleaner than the other one, all original chips except for the congas, which were swapped with, wait for it, Original Linn replacement eproms : James Brown "yeah" samples.
The other one is still in repairs and I have a big session tomorrow, I'l probably put one up on eBay, it'll be a hard choice to make.
not permanently mine, but sort of borrowed for an indefinite time:
roland jx3p
korg 800DV
that korg is a monster!
I had jx3p but sold it just last summer for 200e I think I asked too little but what to do because I had to get rid of it fast and didn't really like the sound that much. I mean I had it for 5 years or so and sometimes it was fun but that brassy sound got on my nerves in the end
mmh..waiting for the entry system from .com
Wow the 800DV, this was THE synth I wanted when I had none, it seemed like the ultimate beast, not sure why anymore.
Some guy was selling two recently, I think for 2000$ CAD.
Just cheacked the A-Z book, voice allocation looks cool, no cv/gate though right?
I'm sure that's a simple mod.
I just got my midiless Linndrum to sync to audio in Ableton, love it!
i havent fired them up yet, had to make room in my studio first.. pff. i had lots of rolands but never a jx3p, so i'm curious.
the korg is indeed something else.. youre right, no cv/gate. i found a site that has a description of a board that can be added, just no description of where to hook it up in the synth.. i'm asking a tech how much a mod would cost to do, and then talk with the owner about it.. its essentially 2 korg 700's in one box, seems to have double controls for just about everything.
most intriguing is a vca-slider that varies between ''percussion'' and ''singing''..
jx-3p is really not that special.. I mean it's ok but it has really some limitations that get on your nerves and also the sound is a little bit weak.. Imho of course! It has a nice sequencer that can spark some inspiration and of course you can also make some nice sounds but I'd take something like juno-60 over it any day or night
Congratulations Trojax! I had the opportunity to buy a LM-2 for roughly 150 euro in 2001, but I was broke. Still hurts. I got an SP-12 as sort of a compensation though.
Recent booty: Nord Rack 2, Biyang AD-7 (dirty analog delay pedal), Soundcraft FX16ii (finally a 'real' mixer!)
Incoming: Alesis 3630 + Lexicon MX200

Hmm different beasts all together, 2 Osc and creamy sounding filter, its is superb for pads it really has its own feel especially if you have the pg-200. Different sound pallet I don't think it fair to compare. The midi mod is really a good investment http://organix.inque.org/index.php?page=jx-3p-upgrade control it all via CC's or use the PG-200 at the same time as midi.

ahh, nice. was also thinking, if that'll be possible. thanks for that link.
here another helpfull, http://fa.utfs.org/diy/jx3p/jx3p_man.htm
thanks for the links, that kit does look promising. but as i said, theyre not mine so i'll wait and see what the status will be.
they are very dirty, i played both today. the jx has a broken key, but for the rest it works.. nice sound actually, not really like a juno but somewhere between a jupiter and a juno i'd say. i really dont care for the juno sound, and this is different enough to be interesting.
the korg is incredible.. such weird features (sliders work upside down (top is 0, botton is 10) word voice mixing, no real adsr but several preset settings and 2 sliders that work really well) and incredible sound.. this thing really can do things none of my other synths can. amazing. also very dirty, and one switch is broken off..
jx3p, alpha juno, crumar bit xxx are the most undervalued synths imho.
i am getting a marshall timemodulator soon out off a trade.
do you guys know is theres a similar midi mod for the mks-30?

Are they naturally different colors or did people just never smoke around the latin one?
