Topic: using Live with a UC-33?

Hi people!

I have a question about what hardware to buy..

I make my tracks using reason 4.0, but now i want to mix them together using ableton live..

So heres the thing, i currently have a Roland mc808, but i dont really use it anymore since i have reason

So my goal is to find a midi based kind of mix table to mix together my tracks made with reason

Does anybody know the Evolution UC-33?

Can i use it with Ableton?

Or is there any better hardware you people would reccomend?

Im still many miles away from buying a laptop so i have enough time to make up my mind, but, i thought it would be best to ask you guys advice..

Thx, Redcat!

Re: using Live with a UC-33?

you don't need to buy any hardware just to mix your reason tracks. you don't even need a host application like live.

as you may have noticed, reason will allow you to open several projects and playback them simultaneously, so all you have to do is beatmatch them (it takes about 3-5 hours of practice) and that's it.

i use that technique whenever i do a software live act.

but if you want to buy a uc33, go ahead, i know a few users who are quite happy with it.

Re: using Live with a UC-33?

edirol is really nice to work with. Got one and used it with ableton and now with reason... even used it with traktor (which is a better application to mix your own tracks with, beleave me) but what 3apkob says is correct: can do it really easy in reason.

Re: using Live with a UC-33?

Nice! i also checked out that midi device, and managed to set up my faders on the 808, whitch then go to that 14:2 mixer.. but somehow theres a problem with channel 1.. dont know why

but, theres also the Regroove mixer in Reason, can i use that application as well?

thx you guys!

Re: using Live with a UC-33?

I think you can use any device. Don't know the regroove mixer but in the tools menu you can select: "enable ... (think its device)... override" with this you can assign any fader to any knob in reason.
