Re: customized synths

Bananas (adj.)

1. a slang word derived from the old saying "bananas" used to describe someone that was crazy. Used now to describe anything in style or cool.

"That shit is bananas"

Re: customized synths

Wow looks different.

What would they do with an modular synth ?

depress the repress

Re: customized synths

that black and orange juno6 looks beautiful!

I was expecting a more obnoxious pink for the 101, though....

Re: customized synths

that maple wood looking pro-one is pretty wicked. i wonder if anyone in the states does work like this?

worship the potentiometer.

Re: customized synths

hm, actually i don't like most of these.. i prefer the original layouts. i'd get tired of the bright colours soon, they look too much like todays plastic synths. the pro one looks decent, but thats not too hard to make if you use overlays. any decent woodmaker can make the wooden parts.

one super mod i do like is the alesis aurora, where kris rhen took the front panel of an alesis andromeda and put it up, like the old roland or the korg ms series:

Re: customized synths

That does so much for a otherwise extremely unsexy synth...

As an A6 owner, I can tell you that it's even uglier in person.

Re: customized synths

its one synth i actually wouldn't buy because of its looks and layout. i also find it very confusing interface-wise.. thats one machine that can actually do too much..

Looks, yes...its hideous...I like the layout though...maybe im just used to it.

It does a lot, yes. And sometime I get lost in all the functionality, but you don't have to dig very deep to get great sounds out of it.

Re: customized synths

Ive heard that the A6 is very buggy, is that true?.. Or mayebe it has been fixed?

edit: aurora mod makes it look ALMOST cool

Re: customized synths

@BMX
as Dez can confirm (and another person who had the A6 for 3 months then sold it away) Alesis has totally dumped
the support for that synth. Too bad, on paper was something like a behemot of a machine, but the actual product is
one of the worse products I have ever seen... Maybe not that worse, but using advanced functions can really bring
crashes, mistunings, jumping LFOs and a big headache and the will to sell it on the first place.

I thank everyday that I decided to go for the G2X instead of the A6... smile

steak: ok, thanks!

tony: i guess you just keep the old parts.. It cant be too hard to reassemble? Or is it invasive?

Re: customized synths

its funny people always talk about crashes with the A6...I guess I got lucky becuase the only time I've ever experienced any problems with it is when I'm pushing the multi-timbral mix functions to their max...But I don't really use it for that purpose. I don't know, it fits in my studio pretty good.

Re: customized synths

well then Dez you are a lucky robot big_smile I'm happy for you

Re: customized synths

Can't get enough of that white juno 106 with wooden sides.
I wonder if a paintjob like that is user resistant on the long term though.
If the knobs and faders are painted too i think it will come off eventually.

Man, do i love the looks of that juno...
I can feel a diy wooden sidepanel session coming up in the near future.
