Hee. Die flitsende vijftigs heb ik ook nog ergens. Zelfs nog uit '82.
En hele jaargangen I Venti D'Azzurro.
The Hague was for sure "the" Italo city in the '80's in The Netherlands.

Hmm. Not that it matters much, since it is eons ago...

Re: Amsterdam de italo schaamte voorbij

Hey i live only 1 1/2 years in NL, Rotterdam, so I'm still a bit new on the amsterdam vs. rotterdam-tip. Can I hear some more stupid prejudices in that genre please? big_smile
Only know the classics like "amsterdam war legt dat dan" and so on.

Stupid article, but yeah i saw something like that coming so I don't care that much. I blame 3voor12 who gave the article it's bad title (and tried to make it a 020-statement), and trago that he wants to break through the purists ideas while he makes a party called "italo elite". In the end he's not representative at all for a city where definetely quite some good music is coming from.

Marco&Orpheo wrote:

But seriously, I think the article was just a bit badly quoted/written, and makes it look like a lot more hoopla than it really is.. Tom is the nicest guy with an honest passion for music, he is not out for your 1337ness..

Actually he's much more out for 1337ness then we are, because nobody here's trying on purpose too make italo or whatever kind of old music to look much cooler than everything else. Which is 100% what he does when doing a party called "italo elite" (and even such bullshit as "join the elite!"), which is only for exclusive members with "gekke kleding".

Re: Amsterdam de italo schaamte voorbij

ofcourse the capital always sucks the most because it attracts hip youngsters from all around the country and the rest of the world who are looking for adventures and the ultimate party.

those hipsters better find something to live for.

he should do an act here in Rotterdam on a party (seriously)

I'm sure that would fit

but Tom Travo can stay in Amsterdam, unless he also blows up his lips with silicones

Re: Amsterdam de italo schaamte voorbij

I found the Italo Elite blog and even took the trouble of starting a blog, just to be able to react on the booooring edit they made of Marzio Dance:

Thinking of it some more, what about the chicago and detroit guys that took apart the italo tracks 15-20 years ago.
I dare Tom Tragic to surpass those:

from the blog: "If housemusic equals sex, italo is the heaviest kind of foreplay or at least an explicit flirt! Italo is the most stylish and visual of all genres within disco. As a cultural phenomenon, it is constructed by aesthetics of contradiction: serious musical production versus lighthearted lyrics, electronic beats versus haunting melodies, straight people adapting gay fashions. Everybody inside club culture is always looking for the right balance between those very aesthetics..."

My guess is as good as yours.
