Topic: article on morricone's, others' giallo soundtracks

a short but good reading in the otherwise fairly dull neue z

Re: article on morricone's, others' giallo soundtracks

morricone's the master - would like to get a 'clean' copy of his soundtrack for Diabolik, but it seems the masters are lost, as the booletgs are only ripped from DVD

Re: article on morricone's, others' giallo soundtracks

I foolishly got myself subscribed to emusic for a month... but it turns out they have a good line in soundtrack albums (including lots of Goblin)... could anyone recommend a top 10 of Giallo/Horror soundtracks (leaving out all John Carpenter, Tenebrae, Suspiria, Profondo Rosso)?

Re: article on morricone's, others' giallo soundtracks

not giving you a top ten, but marcello giombini is well worth a check i think

Re: article on morricone's, others' giallo soundtracks

unfortunately a lot of stuff was never released on vinyl. I got a Japanese 7" of Frizzi's Zombi 2 Theme, which seems to be the only vinyl release. I also have it on this CD: http://www.discogs.com/release/365234

Budy-Maglione's (Real Name: Roberto Donati, Fiamma Maglione) theme for Cannibal Ferox (aka Make Them Die Slowly).  which is also on that CD is strongly recommended as well.

From my memories I can also recommend these scores:
Riz Ortolani - Cannibal Holocaust
Nico Fidenco - Zombi Holocaust

and as you haven't listed them though they are great, you should give these Goblins sondtracks a try.
Buio Omega (my Goblin favourite!)
Phenomena
Dawn Of The Dead (of course...)

not Italian, but also nice:
Children of the Corn
The Serpent & the Rainbow

And I recently ordered Fabio Frizzi - The Beyond as a CD + comic book... haven't seen the movie yet, so I will be surprised by the score...

really recommended, I love "The Finale"  this is sooooooooooo gothic, sort of a combination between In the Nursery and Ennio Morricone's best moment

Re: article on morricone's, others' giallo soundtracks

Ennio Morricone - For A Few Dollars More - 21 - Occhio Per Occhio (Italian Version . mono)

GREAT VOCAL VERSION - hot shit

and by the way:
The Soundtrack for "A Blade in the Dark" directed by Lamberto Bava is excellent. I don't mean the title score for the movie in the movie (which is a Halloween wannabe) but the distorted synth track. Seems to be unreleased, has anyone a clue?
