im getting married late this year and i have no idea what music to play....

Think there are enough ideas on this forum. Just let somebody play the shit you like combined with some "hit" tunes and everybody is happy
(it is quite easy actually, the oldie disco hits mix great with ifm style music, just be sure to have a dj who can play both and is willing to put his ego aside to entertain your guests )

i'm thinking maybe a laptop with different playlists for different times of the night... or even setting up a wireless network and getting a dj friend to change tracks while they eat/drink dinner at the table. or do people at weddings really want to se a dj? i'm usually really drunk and hanging around the toilets at weddings..

When my brother got married, Il disco from beats from the streets was playing records: was a really great night and a lot of people liked the records far better than a laptop.
And all what people wanna see on a marrage is free beer so I think it's more important what you wanna see.
