Topic: 4/4 chilled house style random s**t - Quantized Random Voltages

http://www.reverbnation.com/tunepak/1869481

I ran some random voltages through a quantizer on the doepfer and just recorded it for 4 minutes.  Then I put some beats over the top and added a bit of SH 101 bass.

My wife hates it which isn't always a bad thing smile

Great... I would play that.

Edit: it has a nice Larry Heard flavor, and seen as he is one of my heros that is a big compliment.

So tip of the hat!!!

Thanks - can't get better praise than that smile

Checked the track on a big set of speakers, and you might want to thin out the kick a bit in the low end and maybe a bit lower in volume as well.

Nice one.
You should check the analogue systems scale programmer.
You can program the notes you wanna quantize into!

i don't need the gear, the gear needs me

Thanks for letting me know.  The kick was done using an SH 101 and I only had my old Alesis monitor one speakers when I recorded it so checking the bass was always a bit difficult.  I just bought some Focal Cm65's so i'll have a re-listen and I might change the kick for a 909.

Looks good.  I've always wanted to out try out some of the analogue systems stuff but I've run out of space on the Doepfer rack and need to sell some gear before I buy another case.

I've been looking at the Dopfer A-166 Dual Logic Module as it looks like a good way to get a semi-random repeating rythym using a trigger from a drum machine and the outputs from 2 free running LFO's.  Have you ever tried one?

Like this. Thanks.

Do it your way, because everyone else is just weird.

I got a logic module in my modular to.
There are several ways to get random beats with comporators and logics etc.

I've cut some of the bass from the kick.  How does this sound:

And here's another in the same sort of style:
