haha, new? fresh? nice try man, how can that be new and fresh??
where the fuck am i?
it prolly looks like im just being a dick, but really, i think this stuff is the problem with new music, not chart stuff, fuck!
now I'm not trying to be a dick about this and at least you're discussing rather than wading in like bias shouting "look at me! I'm a massive cunt!"
I think obsessions are a strange thing, "this kind of stuff" I'm assuming you mean kinda retro stuff, yes? I think saying that people who are being retro are the problem with new music is a heavy thing to hand down. I think in truth is just that you don't like it, because it's more or less like saying Philip Glass is the problem with music because he uses repetitive loops. People who make music can obsess over the strangest details, if someone wants to make a record that sounds like it's from 83 I really fail to see how that is a problem. Pastiche and homage are perfectly valid forms of composition. Would you say Bela Bartok was a problem within music because he based a lot of his music on traditional folk songs?
If we really want to talk about the problem with current music can we at least stop picking on an artist who's record may only appeal to maybe 1000 geeks worldwide?
The real problem we have are the continued amount of flash to hide the fact that there is no content, be it Lady Gaga's Telephone: Hey we'll stick a bunch of lesbianism and wacky props from Tarantino movies in there to hide the fact that the lyrics are awkward and the whole thing is no fucking good.
and so on and so on.
