ouch, is that yours?
i think this might be a case of no wall attachment? i've had one of mine stand without wall attachment for a couple of months, but i did make some extra steel strips on the back at a 45 degree angle.
anyone with any constructional insight can tell you that a square structure like this has no solidity without extra support.
This is why most cupboards have plywood or hardboard backs or a cross (wooden or steel)
even not a real Oscar?
i will put some nice stuff on top: speakers, lighting, art?
I have a 5/5 Exp too, and another old Ikea unit, but i needed something for my turntables amp etc. Habitat had a sale on many years ago and I got this from the shop floor display reduced to
i've got one of these shelving units, though i do find it hard to browse through the records once filled. how do u all do it?
I agree, it's very uncomfortable to browse through, but it saves space compared to having them in crates.

it's a case of taking out ten records to get flicking space
more records on the shelf and off the floor makes it worth the hassle

THE HORROR
There's another IKEA system suitable for records: Bonde. It's more expensive though.
Here's our livingroom with approx. 8500 records. I had to exchange the bottom with a self made bottom, to win 1,5 cm. Just enough to just put another row on top of it :-) Some LACK spots completes it nicely.
thats beautiful
p.s. nice fan!
On my side I recently bought some Tr
I was at Ikea last night...they have 2x2 Expedits now so you can get pretty creative with different sizes and positioning.

not sure if Ikea would still have the price advantage if you going this way tho
No it's this box : http://www.discogs.com/Various-The-Hous … ase/118987
(and the one next to it isn't any unit moebius... Only an average F.Com french techno label box... Got it a long time ago...)

2 years ago I built my own DJ desk from some MDF wood. Cost me around 70 euros painted and everything.
It takes some time and effort but it's fun to do, cheap and custom built for my height. I can fit my whole stereo set in there, about 800 records plus some CD and crap. It consists of two seperate parts for more strenght, and it's more convenient than one big desk when you're moving it. Height is 101cm for comfortable mixing when you're a bit taller.
The rest of my records are in two Expedits (5x5 + 4x4) on the other side of the room.
how much records are fitting in one 5x5 expedit? i never checked it ....
I think one shelf can hold about 115 records
